Pigot's Highlands Directory 1825, Golspie

Golspie, in the parish of the same name is a small villiage, 39 miles north of Tain (Ross and Cromarty) and 64 south west of Wick (Caithness), chiefly inhabited by fishermen. Near this place is Dunrobin castle, the seat of the Marquis of Stafford, an ancient magnificent fabric, with all the elegance of modern accommodation. A fair is held at Golspie on the third Wednesday in October.

Golspie post master James Duncan, Jnr. The mail arrives from Inverness every night at ten, and immediately proceeds to Wick, whence it returns every afternoon at two, and departs immediately for Inverness.
